Gift List Taboo: Should I Request What Gifts To Bring?

Everyone loves a Babyshower, the anticipation of the event brings a buzz of excitement. The atmosphere is great and there is usually a theme that guest admire. As well as celebrating new life, one gets to mingle with friends and family, there is also the perks of the gifts!

However, there are a number of thoughts that go through ones mind with regards to gifts ...and this is the 'Taboo of the Gift List'.

'' Am I suppose to make a gift list ?'' ''Should I tell specific family members what mum wants ?''

''What if guest don't stick to the list?" and ''Will some think its rude?''

These are all the questions we asked when planning my sister's Babyshower and we later realised that we weren't the only ones who had all these questions. After organising and attending Babyshowers galore...it simply is the thought that counts. Its sounds clichè but it's true. What guest bring shouldn't matter, they were courteous enough to bring something in the first place.

Your'e probably now thinking that the essence of a Babyshower is to gather around as well as bring gifts so who wouldn't ?  You would be very surprised, there are those who don't bring gifts and genuinely believe that it's their presence that matters.

If you're two minds with deciding whether or not to do a gift list,  the simple answer to this is ... let guest bring what they want, some people really put thought and effort into gifts which may not have crossed your mind. Try not to spend to much time worrying if some gifts will be repeated.

As for those who don't bring gifts, the momentum  and the warm feeling of guest opening gifts and them not having contributed will make them feel slightly guilty.
